Doug Henkel is an Executive Vice President with CBRE | MidSouth and CBRE Hotels, leading the hotel brokerage practice in the Norfolk, Virginia office. Doug has over 30 years of commercial real estate experience. In this capacity, he provides the hospitality real estate industry with advisory services to owners, developers, lenders, hotel chains and operators. Additional capabilities include economic and market-based consulting, financing, investment analysis, venture structuring, management selection and contract negotiation, and strategic planning.
Doug's managerial experience includes ownership of his own commercial real estate company from 1979 through 1994. At the company's height, there were 3 locations with over 100 employees. Prior to this period he spent four years in commercial fee appraisal work. In 1994, Robinson Sigma Commercial Real Estate, Inc., purchased his company's assets. Robinson Sigma became a Partner Office of CBRE in September of 2000. Mr. Henkel is now a Principal in the Norfolk, Richmond, Charlottesville, Raleigh and Greensboro affiliate offices of CBRE and serves as a member of their Board of Directors. In the last two years, he has closed over $1 billion in hotel transactions. Mr. Henkel is also a member of CBRE Hotels. Additionally, he has been actively involved in the development and ownership of hotel properties as well as the brokerage of golf courses.
His hotel brokerage activities involve transactions across a very broad geographic palette, with successful transactions occurring in states from Florida to Maine, and from Washington, DC to Los Angles, including coverage in Mexico and the Caribbean.
